What is a koala? Koala is a small bear-like animal living in Australia. It is a good climber. Its sharp claws enable it to climb trees easily. An adult koala weighs about 9 kilolgrams on everage when full gron, it is about 600 millimetres in length. The koala spends most of its life in trees, coming to the ground only to travel from one tree to another. On the ground it walks slowly on all four legs.

The koala feeds mainly on the leaves of a kind of trees the grow in many places in Australia. An adult koala eat up to a kilogram or more of leaves a day.

Sometimes they aslo eat a little soil. They seldom drink water. The koala gets its name from an ancient leaves it eats., and only drinks when ill or at times when there is is not enough water in the leaves.
