In the city of Fujisawa, Japan, lives a woman Atsuko Saeki. When she was a girl, she dreamed of going to . Most of what she knew about American life she had read in the textbook. At the age of 18, she to go to college in New York. When she arrived, however, it was not the dream world she had imagined. “People were troubled with and often seemed unhappy and too busy,” she said. “I felt very lonely.”
One of her most difficult was PE. One afternoon, the coach asked Atsuko to pass the ball to her teammates so they could knock it over the net. It isn’t difficult for most people, it terrified（使......害怕） Atsuko. She was afraid of failing（失败）, and would laugh at her.
