Hello everyone. This is an investigation into the strategies we as teachers use to control or mediate Chinese use in our classrooms. This investigation is mainly concerned with middle and upper school, but I am also interested in strategies for primary. If you teach in primary as well as middle and upper, please focus your answers on what you consider effective practice for middle or upper school students.

Q6:Not allowing any Chinese use in class at all is a good policy.
Q7:It is difficult to establish a clear classroom policy that allows Chinese use, whilst simultaneously not allowing students to use it as they please.
Q8:What have been the most successful ways that you have controlled Chinese use in the classroom? (Note this does not mean stopped, it means any policy that you feel is effective at mediating L1 Chinese use to achieve learning and language goals. Please be as detailed as possile)
